The service delivery system for those recovering from mental illness continues to transform across our commonwealth. VAPRA is planning an exciting conference with workshops relevant to both professionals in the mental health field and persons in recovery. Join us as we continue to face the challenges of change.

Opening Sessions, Dec. 15, 1:30: Opening Session : We will be honored to hear from James W. Stewart, III, Commissioner of the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services. We are also pleased to
have James Martinez, Jr., the Director of the Department of Mental Health give welcoming remarks at the opening session.

Keynote Speaker: On Thursday morning, Dr. Daniel Fisher will be our keynote speaker. Dr. Fisher, the co-founder and Executive Director of the National Empowerment Center, will share his inspirational journey from an individual with a diagnosis of Schizophrenia to one in recovery. Dr. Fisher’s life work has been greatly impacted by his experience with
mental illness; from his decision to earn an MD from George Washington University and receive training as a psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School to working as the Medical Director of Riverside Community Care in Wakefield, Massachusetts for over 25 years, his single overarching goal “is to inspire hope, call forth the voice, and facilitate the connections that help people recover.”

Reservations:
Room reservations must be made by calling the Hyatt Fair Lakes Hotel at 1-703-818-1234. The room rate cost is $151.51 per night and includes all taxes. To ensure a room reservation make the reservations as soon as possible and mention the VAPRA Conference when you call.

To reserve a space for a business exhibit, and space for program exhibits, contact Justin Sheets at sheetsj@rbha.org or call 804-780-8635. Space is available for groups and businesses to feature their program and products during the conference.

Special Events:
Join us for our VAPRA Got Talent and Fashion Show Wednesday evening. Persons must apply to participate through a forthcoming letter.

On Thursday evening, we invite everyone to attend the ever popular Banquet and Dance!
